Abstract
Trigonometry is one of the basic and widely used concepts in mathematics, other sciences, and life. Students may be face misconceptions in learning trigonometry that prevent them from fully learning the lesson. Identifying these misconceptions and avoiding them is essential. Teachers have an important and critical role in addressing and preventing them and can be efficient to help students to improve their learning. In this article, we explore some of the misconceptions that arise for high school students when learning trigonometry and related topics. The article also offers solutions to this misconception, including the use of appropriate teaching methods, the use of tools such as calculators and mathematical software such as GeoGebra. We explain that how teachers can use these methods. In addition, the use of concept maps is recommended as another way of resolving misconceptions. We explain that concept maps can be used both in teaching and in assessing students.
