Evaluation of the effectiveness of Inquiry teaching method on improving the observation ability of students in physics class

Abstract

The main purpose of the current research is to investigate the effectiveness of the inquiry teaching method on improving students' observation ability in physics and it has been implemented on the tenth grade students of Fatemeh Zahra Girls' High School in Mashhad. The research method is semi-experimental and has been carried out as a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. In the experimental group, the topic of temperature and heat has been taught with the inquiry method. On the other hand, in the control group, training has been done traditionally. The research results were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance and SPSS 24 software. The results show that the students who were exposed to the inquiry teaching method had a 34.3% higher observation power than the control group who were trained in the traditional way. The pleasure that learners get by learning from this model increases their motivation to try different solutions. In order to reach his ultimate goal, the learner tries to deal with the obstacles and problems that are in his way, which ultimately leads to an increase in their belief in their abilities.
