Thermal imaging provides new opportunities to study biological concepts and processes. Examples include the use of infrared (IR) cameras in educational activities to discover the transfer and evolution of energy in human physiology, the readjustment of animal body temperature, and the metabolism of plants. The user-friendly and intuitive nature of IR technology, due to such energy transfer, is suitable for studying rapid temperature changes at biological levels; Thus, IR cameras are potentially useful educational tools for approaching the concept of the intersection of energy and matter. This camera represents a new generation of research technology that shows great potential in biology education. This review article provides an overview of trying to introduce IR cameras to schools and empowering students to make credible scientific discoveries. The information collected is from articles on Google, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Science Direct. The articles reviewed in this study are from 1985 to 2021. The aim is to show how the advanced technologies developed by industry can be transformed into effective learning technologies to solve educational problems.
