This paper describes an effective e-learning strategy in an online General Chemistry course, which was based on collaborative learning activities, with the active participation of students in virtual education. The statistical population was the teacher-students of chemistry education in Farhangian University, Shahid Bahonar Campus, Isfahan, where set randomly in two person treatment (28 students) and control groups (23 students). ،he instructor and the taught topics were exactly the same for both groups and the difference was in the teaching method. For the treatment group, a collaborative learning method was used with the active participation of students, and the method used for the control group was a lecture-based approach. Data were analyzed using single variable covariance analysis (ANCOVA). The results indicated the significant impact of the instructional approach on student outcomes. The results revealed that the applied instruction method led to significantly higher learning achievements than lecture instruction. Adopting an approach aimed at increasing the activity of students in remote education as well as creating deep learning based on research and teamwork played an important role in improving the performance of students.
